FIRKIN
American - Shaker ,  Early 19th c.

Rare early 19th c. oak firkin with wrought bands, pegged handle, square nailed lapped lid. Firkin is lettered no. 7 on base and lid. Original red painted surface. Wonderful survivor. Very good as descended condition, minor rust on wrought bands only. Collection of the late Hazel Hamilton. Very respected Kentucky Shaker dealer. From an old private collection. .

Height without handle: 10 inches. With handle: 14 3/4 inches. Bottom width: 13 inches.
