MAKE-DO HOGSCRAPER
England - New England 18th

Rare 18th c. make-do hogscraper candleholder with narrow lip and hanger mounted on a one piece carved pine chamfered wooden block and circular base. Base has vestiges of a dry old red surface. Slight tilt to mounted hogscraper. Very good as descended condition with missing push-up (most likely one of the reasons to make-do). Includes old fat tallow candle stub. A lovely rare everyday object survivor. From an old private collection.

Height: 6 7/8 inches.
